   Positive: Good CPU performance, and dedicated GPU. Hard to find a 14″ laptop these days with a decent GPU for this price. The screen has a higher resolution of 1600 x 900. The touchpad is a good size for a 14″ notebook. Another good point is the VGA and HDMI outputs as well as a IEEE 1394 (S400). Comes with a SD card reader, and a Sony memory stick reader. The built in camera and microphone comes in handy for those of you who use video conferencing functions. The picture quality is great.

   Neutrals: The integrated speakers are about average for a laptop this size. the keyboard is a good size, but you may or may not like the keys. They are similar to those found on Macbooks.

   Negative or (could be positive for some): Out of the box, Sony loads the computer with a lot of software, you may find it useful. I personally performed a clean install after the purchase. Unfortunately Sony does not provide a clean install disc, but instead uses a separate restore partition. This means that if you want to perform a true clean install, you’re going to have to find the Windows 7 DVD media yourself.

   In conclusion, this is an excellent laptop. It is quite fast, the screen looks great, and it runs cool. It is portable, but not ultra portable like my x200s Thinkpad. The core i5 is a dual core cpu with hyper threading so it looks like 4 cores to Windows. This CPU is very power efficient and clocks down to reduce heat/power consumption when possible. It is a very fast CPU made with Intel’s latest and smallest fabrication process. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, that this laptop was able to Play everything I’ve thrown at– Fallout 3, Mass Effect 2; Dragon Age Origins without any problems.

   Great laptop for the money!
